It takes place in the NDSM Docklands, a vibrant cultural hotspot in Amsterdam. Depending on the time of year, the market is either held indoors, providing a comfortable warm shopping experience during the cold weather, or outside and spread out across several large lots.

Cost, Location and Directions

Admission to IJ-Hallen is €6. You can save €0.50 and buy your tickets ahead of time on the IJ-Hallen website, or at the market entrance. There are machines and ticket windows that accept both cash and dutch debit cards.

IJ-Hallen is conveniently located at T.T. Neveritaweg 15, 2012 ZM Amsterdam in the NDSM Docklands area.

The market can be reached easily by public transportation, such as ferry or bus, and there is also limited paid parking available for those traveling by car. It’s recommended to use public transportation when possible. The 906 ferry service, typically departing from the F4 terminal behind Amsterdam Central Station, takes around 15 minutes and is an easy and accessible option. From the NDSM ferry terminal it’s around a five minute walk.

The market opens its doors at 9:00 AM and closes at 4:30 PM. It's recommended to arrive early to secure the best deals and avoid the crowds. If you want to really beat the crowds you can buy a more expensive early bird ticket and enter as early as 6:00 AM.

There are toilet facilities available at IJ-Hallen. Keep in mind that these require a small payment to use. Typically around €1 or less.
